Campos-Pons works with themes of identity, familial ties, and the friction of having a home in Cuba and a home in the United States. Working with 20 x 24 Polaroids, her unique images are stunning both in color and scale. She employs elaborate costuming and places herself within the photographs with altered personas. Weaving extravagant hair extensions and constructing nests or tentacle-like braids that entangle the artist, her images become a space where fantasy and reality collide
